Is anyone else experiencing weird rashes and lesions?
I developed a new dry, flaky, red, itchy rash on my right ear last night. Preceding this, I developed incredibly itchy, bumpy, red contact dermatitis on the top of my right foot which is ongoing. A dry, flaky, red, non-itchy patch on the back of my left calf, numerous red, non-itchy spots all over my body which look like broken blood vessels and tiny, indented, non-itchy, purple marks around my left ankle which sort of look like old scars although they're not.
Do we have any treatment ideas for fq skin reactions since topical steroids are out of the question and a number of floxies have developed extreme sensitivities to common medicines? Has anyone tried Calamine lotion?

myrnawearshats, google vasculitis and take a look at the photos. Does your skin looks like this, when you say: "numerous red, non-itchy spots all over my body which look like broken blood vessels..." Quinolones are known to cause vasculitis. Namid

Hey namid, I looked it up and not really, thankfully. The rash on my foot looks the most like that, but it's lighter in color and the bumps are very tiny. It looks sort of like this, but not as intensely red: And the red spots on my arms look sort of like this: The rashes (-?) on the back of my calf and my ear look like this: And I haven't been able to find anything that looks like the purple indentations around my left ankle, but the pictures I'm finding are kinda squicking me out so I think I'm gonna stop looking, lol. I'd take a picture of it for you, but the resolution on my cellphone sucks and it doesn't have a flash.

The rash that looks like the last photo I posted has now spread to various places on my back. It's very, very itchy. I think it might be psoriasis, but I'm not sure. What can I put on it to make it stop itching and go away. It's hard to reach back there. I've tried aloe, apple cider vinegar, vitamin E, bacitracin and increasing my B12 intake, but nothing has worked so far and it just continues to spread.

I know of others who had similar skin symptoms as yours. I had some purple little lesions all over my thighs and legs once. It lasted a few weeks. I remember of a floxie on the old forum had similar all over his chest. It went away eventually. I had some large bluish lesions at one time, and still do occasionally on the legs. These were much worse some years back. Could it be a sudden reaction to your detergent or something else in your home? Have you tried witch hazel lotion over the itchy rash? Once, a nurse, offered Calamine lotion over both arms and back, but declined, didn't like the idea of zinc oxide spread over me. It was hives from an allergic reaction.

The purple spots are really weird. They don't hurt or itch and they're pretty small, but the indentation of them is bizarre. Were yours like this?
I haven't changed anything with detergent or anything like that. I have been trying various medications and supplements, but nothing consistently enough or in such quantities that it would seem to correspond to the sudden onset of all these varying skin symptoms so I'm guessing this is just another fq reaction, ongoing from whatever the hell this shit has done to my endocrine/nervous and other systems.
I haven't tried witch hazel yet, thanks for bringing that one up.
Why were you wary of zinc? I don't deal well with it taken orally, but used it once when I was pretty much covered head to toe with mosquito bites and I think it saved me from jumping out a window. So, I was thinking of trying that next along with increasing epsom baths.

Yes, I think that your derm issues are probably related to FQs, ughhh lots of articles about antibiotics reactions and dermatology. Hum, the zinc thing. OUCH, can cause neuro issues. I read on Bloomberg News about Glaxo having to pay millions to those who used Poligrip for their dentures, ;D some suffered severe neuro probs such as nerve damage. www.businessweek.com/news/2011-05-03/glaxo-said-to-pay-120-million-to-end-denture-cream-suits.html Some suffered from loss of feeling in their limbs etc. It also depletes copper in large quantities, but I would assume, that low exposure to zinc over a prolonged period of time would be just as toxic!! Although I have taken zinc in the past, its best to take one with the correct copper/zinc ratio.

I have new light tan flaky areas on my left arm. this area will swell sometimes and turn red, then go back to tan and itch and flake.
I don't know if this is strictly dermatological but I have developed new veins or something, worse on hands and fingers. They're not spider veins, they are thicker than that. Like new veins. Old veins have shrunk or constricted and the palms of my hands are almost translucent.
I also have new veins in my eyes. Like bloodshot veins, except they are there all the time.

I forgot another skin thing I get are tiny scabs/crusts on my head, under the hair and behind my ears, just these little scabs, about the size of a pimple, out of nowhere, if I pick them they bleed. This was one of my first adrs come to think of it when I feel toxic again in December 2009.

My skin stuff has gotten a lot better in the last week although I'm still quite itchy. I find that the Epsom baths help with both the skin and muscle/joint/tendon pain but aggravate the nerve pain. I've also been using witch hazel pads and tea tree cream on the rashes and while they haven't gone away at all, they are less itchy.
