Last week I had a cough and a sore throat and fever. Last weekend the fever was quite high and the muscles in my lungs kind of cramped. I had difficulties to breath. By now the fever is down and I feel better. What helped me to "open" my chest" was the following: We made a thick roll from my bed and my pillow and I was sitting with my back against it. I tried to bend gentle my back over it.
Another idea was to use a hot water bag for my lung muscles. I wanted to make only warm water and not hot, but I was too scared that the warmth would raise the temperature of my body and that could have brought me into trouble. What do you think?
Do you have any other mechanical or warmth/cold ideas, what may help in such a situation?
My husband cooked potatoes for me and their warmth and maybe something in them was doing me fine during the time, when I had high fever.
I heard on radio the other day, that drinking cold water in a slow way may be able to lower the fever from inside. Children shall lick an icecreame.

Namid: well done for taking care of it the way you did. Whenever I have fever, I just sweat it out, unless of course, if delirious.
Whenever had chest infections etc, in the past had hot toddy, which is brandy with brown sugar, and buried under the comforter.
A floxie mentioned hot and cold towels on the chest, which I also did, to remove toxins. Cupping is another I tried recently, with acupuncture.
If you can tolerate every three hours or so for a few days:
Take 2 tablespoons equal parts of watercress and turnip juices, goat milk and dark honey. Mix all in a tin cup, over a flame till warm. Take by spoon every few hours.
Kumquat juiice (from Asia, China) helps with bronchitis, pneumonia, and other lung probs. One cup on empty stomach every morn before breakfast for 11 days.
For sore throat: Table salt with fresh lemon juice. Gargle for one min before swallowing. Gargle for about three minutes there after and swallow.
Also, chicken soup with garlic, onion, cleery, potato, parsley and four whole limes, cook on medium heat for one and half hour. Eat this for a few days. (I use to do this before allergies and inability to metabolize those foods). All helps.
Avoid mucous forming foods such as ice cream, cold and raw foods, sweet foods, flour and soft drinks. Eat rich in complex carbs, low in fat, lean protein such as egg whites, skinless chicken et...
From a book I have from Chinese Medicine:
Honey and onion syrup. Chop finely onions, mix with honey. Store for 8 hours in sealed container. Take 1 tablespoon straight or dissolved in 1 cup of hot water, drink 4 to 5 times a day till improvement.
I am doing this one:
Juice 3 large daikon (long white raddish), strain and add 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger juice and 1 tablespoon of hone7 (am allergic to honey now), Drink this 1 cup x 3 times daily until you improve.
There is more, using waterchestnutes and honescukle etc... let me know if you are interested.
Hope you feel better soon, its sux. Just had a nasty cold/flu with green mucous from chest. Almost gone now. Healing thoughts to you..

Hi Beebs, thank you for your reply. It is good that we gather methods, which may help some of us through the times with cold, fever, flu... In the past gargling with salt water had helped me a lot. A friend of mine tried out onions and honey and drank the juice and it had helped him - His doctor wanted to give him a quin and he tried this first!!! I hope you feel better, too. Namid
