Since being poisoned by pharmaceutical drugs, I have developed varying degrees of phototoxicity. I would suffer nasty swollen red arms from being in the sun. Recently however I had an altogether different reaction. I applied some "hypoallergenic" PABA free sunscreen to my face. I had been out in the sun a few times with nothing on my skin and suffered ZERO reaction. Then I put sunscreen on and went outside. That evening my face began to descend into a toxic reaction such as I never experienced. skin totally red, swollen and itching and painful. It was unbearable for a few days. then the skin began to peel off and turn brown.
What is important to understand here is that I was not reacting to the sun or the sunscreen itself, I was suffering a toxic reaction that was occurring between the compounds in the sunscreen and the sunlight. This is very common. Just google "phototoxic reaction to sunscreen".
Since that BS cleared up I have not put anything on my face and sat outside in the full sun all afternoon and not suffered any reaction.
Some people are allergic to sun screen itself, they react immediately to its application or smell. Others like me can have no reaction to the sunscreen if it is applied but you never go outside, but once you are in the sun the toxic reaction occurs.
Be careful, all man made chemicals are bad in my opinion.
