A discussion with HQMod1 (the Moderator), led to the conclusion that disabling the PM (Private Messages between members) function might stimulate interaction on the forum. Few members are posting, with little response.
The Chatroom is opened 24/7 an opportunity for you to exchange contact details.
To access the Chatroom:
Click on the "Chat" icon next to the Logout Icon at the top of the page on your tool bar
Or scroll down, till you see the Addon Chat, login and chat away!!

Your board, your decision, but I don't see how prohibiting communication between people who are feeling desperately alone and in agonizing pain is a way to drive up traffic here. Start helpful threads, name dropping the place on other boards, etc. but cutting off communication between members will only decrease traffic. I know I've posted here less because I can't privately talk to anyone.

Sending PMs will hinder open discussions and further isolate those in need of help and support.

Concur with Admin. I am in pain, and suffering terrible symptomos. I just want to read about what can help me, and not unload on others my sufferings. We can share here on the forum, that's whats its for.

It's better to discuss openly so others who may be suffering will not feel so alone with their symptoms. If everything is discussed in PM's or over the phone, it can be even more isolating for those who think they are the only ones. This is my personal experience and opinion. I found NO ONE discussing severe neuro symptoms openly. No one. Then I come to find out people with similar symptoms to mine would only discuss them over the phone, with a person I know, or in PMs, private emails etc. So I thought I was the only one and this made things much worse for me.
Oh, another thing, if someone contacts you privately and tells you something wrong, like tells you try a drug or herb or whatever, you may do it because no one else will be weighing in, then you may get worse. It can actually be dangerous if you think about it that way.
Besides, you can still contact people privately on here if you want, you just have to email them.

Just weighing in to say I concur completely with Piglet. Group discussion brings a better result. Respectful expression of different opinions based on research or experience can create new understanding.
This seems a most safe place to have open discussion of most anything. Am looking forward to participatory discussions. lol
