Was wondering - Are there any tell tales signs that offer insight in to how serious ones reaction is to quinolones? Any symptoms or insights that can give some sort of prognosis as to the duration and severity? Sometimes I think the uncertainty of everything is the worst part of all this.

Uncertainty is a psychological stressor on top of the biological toxicity/damage. But guessing that its as variable between and within individuals (since we have days when we are more upbeat or supported than others) as the toxicity itself.

It would be nice, if there are signs where we can say the development will go in this or that direction, but it is extreme difficult to say something. Because I am in the scene since several years, I have seen 1 person, who was hit mildly in the beginning but he had been in extreme pain 9 months later and there are persons, who seem to be hit badly in the beginning and they seem to recover quickly. An example has been a young guy. Another man was suffering over one and half year and saw no improvement. He gave up all his hope. Then suddenly he felt some relief and 6 months later he was much, much better and back in his old life. I often have the feeling after I had a bigger exposure that there is no improvement. The change is often so small that I don't notice it. I measure things in weeks/months and even years. During several years I was not able to listen to music. It was just noice and a mash. Just a short while ago I noticed that I can listen to music for 30 minutes and I am really able to enjoy it. I never have expected it. What generally really takes a long time to heal is cartilage. So I assume that will be one of the last things, which will heal. After I had a big exposure to solvents, my joints in the feet and knee were hit badly similar to the damage done by the quins and they became 90 per cent better. So even there is some hope.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Namid. I'm very happy for you that your joints, feet, and knees have seen such improvement!! 90% better sounds wonderful. How many years out are you now and how long did it take to start seeing significant progress? I have had multiple exposures spread out over years with the worst being just over two years ago. I continue to have hope that there will be more improvements, but it....is.....so....slow and the painful symptoms drag on..sigh. I have just recently started being able to listen to music again as well :-) For the longest time I couldn't watch t.v. or use the computer either and that has improved a lot too. I often wish that I'd kept a detailed journal of improvements so that on especially bad days I could go back and review my growth...

The quinolones were only a few years on the market, when I took 1 pill. In my case the brain/ nervous system was hit the most. I developed extreme sensitivities to food, fragrances, chemicals, drugs...and that made the situation for me complicated. More than 10 years ago I had an exposure to solvents and that injured my joints, tendons ... similar to the FQs. It took around a year to see some improvement but it took maybe 1 or 2 years to feel all in all better.
I read your story and I see that you are badly injured by the drug and that you are fighting each day. I had such times too. Still keep on fighting! Beside that we need you here:-) Namid
