Increased pain in joints after eating fish, meats, etc??? If there is accumulation of uric acid, some may feel pain exacerbation after eating fish, meats, yeast, alcohol - high in purine. Avoid meds for this, altering and adhering to a no purine diet should be helpful. Some foods such as strawberries are said to help disolve uric acid, and bicarbonate of soda. There are are more foods that will help reducing the uric level. Excerpt from one study, look up others: "The effect of purine intake persisted across subgroups by factors known to influence the risk for gout, including sex, alcohol, diuretics, allopurinol, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and colchicine. The authors point out that the study limitations included use of dietary recall, for serving size as well as numbers of servings, which may have introduced recall bias. In addition, purine estimates were based on bioavailability values in raw foods, which may differ from those in cooked foods. Serum urate levels also were unknown, and characteristics of study participants, as well as distribution of purine intake, may not be representative of US patients with gout." www.medscape.com/viewarticle/764819?sssdmh=dm1.789603&src=nldne
