Hi everyone, Beebs, Namid,
Hope all is well with you. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience in using silver to treat bacterial intestinal infections. I have a liver with sluggish phase 2 pathways and problems with phase 1 as well, so I'm concern if it can properly be processed out of my system. My nutritionist wants me to try it. She also wants me to try iodine for the infection as well. I reacted to silver metal jewelry on my skin when I was extremely sensitive. I may have been reacting to the copper in the jewelry and not the silver itself, so I'm concerned about digesting silver in my body and being allergic.
My bacterial overgrowth seems to be getting worse. I have sharp stabbing pains all throughout my intestines and constant feeling of inflammation and pain. I don't want to take antibiotics, but I don't want it to get out of control either. I might need to stay away from starches for awhile, maybe that will help me too.
I have been going a bit crazy with supplements. I've been taking digestive enzymes, HCL, whole food enzymes, glutamine, p5p, molybdenum. I'm not sure if these are causing any problems.
Please help! Any advice or knowledge is greatly appreciated.
Best, Jill

Jill: Many have issues with both pathways. Not sure if you read the article on liver, posted here. To confuse matters even more, there are other articles which discusses Pathway III, not posted here.

In regards to allergic reaction externally, is it wise to swallow?

My own experience with candida which was oozing out of eyes, palate of mouth and other orifices, is that I had no symptoms. OTOH, the symptoms you describe, I had those following one week of antibiotics, (which are known to trigger candida), but I had no candia!! . The pain and inflamma and other symptoms are also known to be caused by antibiotics regardless, if you have candida or not. Those acute symptoms took two years and plus to resolve.
Having said that, wrote about taking Triphala for a year, which cleared various infections including fungal.

If the liver is not functioning at optimal level, then taking Vitamins and Supps will make this worse, from what I read. Vit Bs store in the liver for up to 6 months. HCL can cause similar symptoms too, and frankly, I don't understand how it works.
I have been successful with eating Daikon, and red radishes, no raw foods, easy to digest foods. Daikon is renown to help the pancreas, high enzymes, helps pancreas and the whole digestive system.
Did you test to find out if you low or high on digestive acids? Sorry, couldn't be of more help.
