Supplements and Vits will help, to a certain extent,
not as effective as intensive nutritional therapy
which will REVERSE damage most of the time.
at cellular level.
Read up on NMDA, vanilloid and TPRv receptors
if you suffer neuro reactions to foods. See Namid's post.
Since eating bone broth with meat on the bone,
there has been lessening in neuro food reaction and allergies.
Avoid pure bone broth, which contains free glutamates.
Not a follower of prescriptive diets, tweaks and mix "n" match,
according to my own physiology. Cognition can be fizzy at times,
other sympotms alternate depending on what I eat. Adjustments,
and innovation, experiementing. Cooking is an art and science.
See previous posts on chicken feet, and cartilage high
in hyaluronic acid and gelatine.
Dr McBride advises chicken stock to start with, then progress
on to meat broth, without bones. (more on GAPS later).
Summary from Dr Blaylock's (Neurosurgeon)
published articles, Will add
info from Dr Wahls and Professor Peskin's work,
and a few others.
Dr Blaylock, Neurosurgeon:
Research shows that if glutamate receptors are blocked,
there is a reduction in oncogenic cells (cancer cells).
Additives will spike your glutamate level by up to 50%
See the list of foods to AVOID in a previous posts.
A major contribution in all neurological disease is excess
glutamate, as well as cytokines and glucose. Note that if
glutamate levels are too low, it can cause toxicity.
Excess glutamate is of a major contributory factor to
CNS, and not serotonin as previously thought. Scientists
are rushing to market medications to block glutamate receptors.
Another mistake IMHO. Reductionist and target approach
are ineffective.
If there is excess glutamate produces in digestive system, you will
suffer digestive issues such as diarrhoea, in the pancreas - diabetes, in the lungs - asthma and so forth.
Foods & Supps that blocks glutamate receptors
(best to source from foods rather than synthetics:Grapeseed, Curcumin, Resveratrol, Risperidone, Quercetin, Hesperidine, amongst others.
Immune system is also involved in releasing glutamate, as in viral encephalitis. This applies to all infectious pathogens, which goes "viral" ;D causing cytokines storm and excess glutamate release. By going viral, I meant neurological, as in syphillis, Lyme Disease turning into neuroborelliosis, malaria, meningitis, etc.
Low blood sugar and too much insulin release will cause excess glutamate in the brain, same for hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, mitochondrial disorders.
Read up on microglia, cytokines and glutamate on Professor
Blaylock's site.
Avoid excesses of Omega 6, which is known to be oxidative producing free radicals. It irritates glutamate receptors, and can lead to over production.
PROTECTIVE & HELPS REVERSE DAMAGEagainst glumate excesses:[/b]
DHA, Magnesium, flavnoids from veggies, curcumin, quercetin, pommegranates which are high in ellagic acid, lemons, oranges (high in resperidine, also onions), grapes for the resveratrol, Acetyl L Cystine, Sylmarin and Zinc (from oysters, mussels etc..). (see his published paper, there are more).
www.russellblaylockmd.com/Vtamin E, folate, Vit C, thiamine, Riboflavin, flavnoids, nicotinamide, methylcobalamin, pyridoxine. Choose foods when possible, some foods contain high level of tocopherols and tocotrienols, all Vit Es, as in Red Palm Oil, rice bran etc..
Coconut oil, and medium range fatty acids are extremely helpful to reverse brain damage. Dr Mary Newport, reversed her husband's Alzheimer's by making him take coconut oil, medium chain fatty acids, ketogenic diet and some supplement. Although anecdotal,
hey, who cares if it works. Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative illnesses undergo similar processes to ADRs from meds, and other toxicites, it manifests itself in various ways. Ultimately, and over time, Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative illnesses are the results of slow toxicities.
adcausetreatment.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/dr-mary-newport-reverses-her-husbands.html Glutathione, and metallothionein are important to neutralize excess glutamate, which as discussed, can have a number of triggers including mercury and aluminium.
Butyrate fatty acids are effective for brain energy production. Secondary benefits is that it prevent proliferation of cancer cells. See Dr J Budwig's work on Fatty Acids and cancer cells reversal. Many are reversing cancers by following her strict diet.
Some info how to find Butyrate in diet:
www.digitalnaturopath.com/treat/T242313.htmlAlthough she was a pioneer during her lifetime, her work neglected and scoffed at, more recently publications show the benefits of her diet towards reversing cancers.
Cancer cells don't metabolize fats, they depend on glucose for energy.
Byturate have also immuno protective effects:
www.bioportfolio.com/resources/pmarticle/78352/Butyrate-And-Other-Short-chain-Fatty-Acids-As-Modulators-Of-Immunity-What.htmlAlso excellent for the GI tract and restore good eco-flora.
FOR NEUROTRANSMITTERS & MITOCHONDRIA, KREBS CYCLE etc..[/b]
All the mentioned in previous paras, all Bs, Vit C, Vit E (look for one that conains all tocothrienols and tocopherols. I am using Red Palm Oil, organic, wheat germ oil, rice bran are excellent sources), Magnesium. The latter is very important also known to reduce excess glutamate, dilates micro vessels, protects lining of the stomach, increases blood flow, prevents diabetes, acts as a channel blocker, preventive to strokes and heart attacks.
Dr Blaylock recommends mag citrate or mag malate, chelated. I prefer to obtain from food sources. Magnesium takes about six months to be absorbed intracellular, don't expect miracles overnight
An important point, I read from several sources. Its not that important to "juice" all veggies and fruits. Only those can be tolerated by our own digestive system. We are not ruminants, thus, should avoid to "rawdify" our diet. We can tolerate certain raw veggies, but not all.
The minerals from those plants are covered with a cellulose membrane which makes it difficult for us, humans to metabolize. Blending or cooking is advised. Drink the water from simmered or steamed veggies. I know it works. Since doing this with cabbage leaves and chards, my folate level was severely low. Its now up to optimal level. I boiled those two, and drank the water. IT WORKS. Great if you can tolerate leaves high in chlorophyll.
If you have excess iron, advised to get rid of it. Its a powerful free radical generator.
Pyruvate helps with digestive system.
AVOID portobello mushrooms, which will trigger excesses of glutamate, cheese, stock, broths, meats, milk and soy. See previous post on foods to avoid.
Pyruvic Adci will prevent over activation of glutamate and help rest microglial activities.
Also important to consider, avoid EMF, blue tooth phones, WI-FI etc..
see article here: Scroll down till you hit "EMF and Glutamate Receptors" I wrote this short article based on research, the article is referenced.
adr-centralreactiontomedications.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Brain%20and%20receptors%20%20EMS%20-%20Health Lastly, info from various books, its very important to have your whole digestive system working, that includes pancreas.
You will also need to get the enzymes flowing, by drinking pineapple juice, paw paw (fresh) eat daikon (long white raddish), radishes, etc.. I tried pineapple and paw paws several times over years, still unable to digest. There will be a thread on the importance of enzymes and digestive health as well as brain health.
The next section of this thread will include Dr Wahls' diet and others.
Read up on neuroplasticity. There is plenty of evidence to show damage can be reversed, unless you prefer taking toxic medications causing neuronal death ad infinitum..
Its been shown that appropriate nutrition enables neurogenesis, over a period of time. An example of this is Dr Newton who reversed her husband's Alzheimers, GAPS diet reversing Autism, Dr Wahl's diet reversing damage to the myelin sheath etc.. reversed her own degenerative MS and more.
